Our Roots

We created the Bexley Brewfest in 2019 after losing our father, husband, and grandfather, Frank “Paboo” Wakeham, to Alzheimer’s Disease.

Alzheimer’s Disease has forever impacted - and continues to impact - our families and the lives of so many of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. The pain of watching a loved one slowly disappear in front of you is a gut-wrenching experience for everyone involved.

So what can we do?

While we personally cannot come up with a cure…

We can raise money to help fund the research to eradicate this horrible disease once and for all.

We can ask our amazing community for help.

We can have some fun along the way!

Thus, the birth of Bexley Brewfest!

 Brewfest 2023

Our event will be bigger than ever!

We are holding the Brewfest on Main St in downtown Bexley on Sunday, September 3rd in conjunction with the City of Bexley and their Labor Day Block Party.

Our event requires attendees to buy a ticket and be 21+ to enjoy our brewery partners’ delicious creations! Your ticket includes unlimited samples of beer/wine/seltzer/cider.  It also includes unlimited water to help BrewFest attendees stay well hydrated!

We will have incredible live music, amazing food trucks, and lots of surprises.  The City of Bexley’s Labor Day Block Party will be happening simultaneously and offers a whole slew of fun events for children and families.

This is one big event and all are welcome to walk throughout - there are no “adult-only” areas, so all should feel free to wander!

Past Brewfests

2019

Our first year. With great support from local businesses and the Bexley community, we launched our inaugural event on a beautiful day in late September. We had 15 breweries, 3 food trucks, a couple of bands, and a great time hanging out with friends and supporters - oh, and we raised money for a good cause along the way!

2022

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

2020

The second Bexley Brewfest was a tremendous success despite the overwhelming headwinds of Covid 19. We sold over 200 “Brewfest Bundles” as our event was kept alive by the generous support of friends, neighbors, and businesses. The end result was an incredible (socially distant) event and much-needed funds were raised for Alzheimer’s research.

2021

For our third Brewfest, we moved to Main Street and held our event in conjunction with the Bexley Labor Day Celebration - and the turnout was unprecedented! More breweries, more fantastic music, more great sponsors, and fun for everyone. And the largest amount of money raised for Alzheimer’s research by this event so far!
